The Hidden Costs of Adult Content Creation

Hidden Costs I Wish I Knew
So the world of content creation has peaked your interest! Here’s just a bit I wish I knew before I became a content creator and business owner!
I did a bit of research I saw a few comments and it genuinely made me curious with all the subscriptions, lingerie, makeup, literally all how much does it truly cost? This highlights stuff I firmly believe makes your life easier as well as subscriptions I think we should all have in our toolbox as a creator.
Personal Hygiene & Upkeep
Personally, makeup is something I charge for it’s not necessarily as common but it’s well incorporated into my niche. That being said, for my makeup I do $60 my niche includes gothic heavy-ish applied makeup. All together my routine is (cost) the average American woman spends about 20 minutes to an hour on makeup daily, heavier applied looks may range to two hours this is where I fall. This is prep time I take to tailor my looks to my content, customs, sessions etc. keep in mind your goal when your a creator is to be able to support yourself and profit! I do charge for this because it’s expensive when I was looking at threads and articles most women’s routines are around $150-600 this does insanely differ to what you’re trying to achieve!
We’re just at the tip of the iceberg for you’re necessary tools you need to get this off the ground!
Subscriptions
Personally I wish I took advantage of it more, Lightroom. I highly recommend this to any content creator of any genre and it has completely changed my content for the better (shoutout to alley for putting me on) I use it daily! The most basic package for Lightroom starts at $11.99 USD monthly. The total yearly comes out to $143.88 a year.
Another subscriptions id highly recommend is CapCut! I use it for customs, clips, anything that is videod is going through CapCut to make my quality of my content more consistent and clear! A monthly CapCut pro subscription is $19.99 USD monthly coming out to $239.88 USD a year.
It’s not a common subscription, but with telegram scams and impersonation being so prominent nowadays I have now started watermarking my content! I use watermarking and I know a few other creators who do as well! It’s a one time purchase for life time access of $39.99 USD
when you’re starting out I’d highly highly recommend Canva. I use this for my menus, premades menus, graphics, flyers for sales, and any kind of detailed graphic I’d like to post. Canva does have a $15 monthly price and it’s $180 yearly
Political/ Socioeconomical Costs
As of right now if you are in the US we’re all aware of tariffs and how’ve they’ve been affecting quiet literally everything around us. That being said many creators use sites such as SHEIN, resellers on Amazon, any good that involves sexwork that’s coming across seas is now marked up to 30%. Most options creators heavily relied on using to get more bang for there buck are unfortunately across seas so tarrifs are affecting this industry more than ever right now
Final Thoughts
I know this is over whelming but that being said… up charges are prominent all of these things listed above are used daily for me and many others that being said this is why it’s important to base your pricing, add ons, etc according to what you’re spending for your business and livelihood.
