Schedulers on Reddit: How to safely automate posting

When you first start posting on Reddit it can feel exhausting to keep up with. Some creators post up to 60 times a day. I personally only post about 5-7 times daily. Even with just 5-7 posts, knowing exactly when, where, and being ready to post at the exact right time is…. Impossible. So, when I started posting on Reddit for adult content promotion I decided to go with a scheduler. But using schedulers on Reddit can be tricky.

Reddit as a platform does not have an in-built scheduler so third parties are really your only option. Also as a platform, using schedulers is absolutely permitted. Here’s the thing, it is risky. You can get looked at as a bot by the platform’s filters and you can get shadow banned because of it. Reddit is very against any bot activity so they are very particular. There are steps you can take to make using one a feasible option. This resource will outline at least some safety precautions that I would heavily suggest taking.

Deciding to Use a Scheduler

Choosing your scheduler

When it comes to choosing a scheduler I just picked a newer looking platform and dug in. What has come since has been a wonderful and long lasting relationship with the creator of Fangrowth.io who I was able to work one on one with the help design the tool to be exactly what creators need. I was incredibly lucky to stumble on them. If you are just now looking into a scheduler there are some things to look for that can help make your choice:

  • Do they state they have access to Reddit’s API, and permission to actually use it?
  • Do you have plenty customization choices for when and how often you are posting?
  • What are creators reporting about their experiences in creator forums?

Fangrowth.io has been a perfect solution for me, but dig in and do your research in depth before deciding on any platform. Once you have chose, it is time to very slowly start using it!

Is your account a good fit?

Not every Reddit account is a good or safe fit for a scheduler. The below are good signs your account IS ready for a scheduler

  • The account is over 2-3 weeks old.
  • The account has had regular and consistent manual activity on it such as manual posting commenting and upvoting.
  • The account has at least 200-300 comment karma.

Starting a scheduler on a brand new account is a huge sign to Reddit’s filters that it is a bot account. An account that has any amount of age but no activity that just starts using a scheduler out of nowhere will do the same thing. Having 200-300 comment karma also helps ensure that you have had enough manual, human activity that it will soften the blow that adding a scheduler will do. It shows the platform that you are doing more than just utilizing a bot for promotion.

Safely Utilizing Schedulers on Reddit

Following scheduler etiquette

Once you have your scheduler chosen there are some steps to take to make sure that activating your first post doesn’t also activate a shadow ban on your account. First lets look at some scheduler etiquette with some do’s and don’ts.

  • DO maintain activity manually. You cannot stop commenting and should also be manually posting. My rule of thumb for maintaining a human, manual looking presence is for every two days a scheduled post goes up, one manual comment should as well. For every week scheduled posts go up, one post should go up manually.
  • Don’t ever put a single link in a scheduled post. Not in the title, not in the body, not in a scheduled comment to go with it. If a subreddit requires a link go up with every post, you should not schedule for that subreddit but rather manually post.
  • Do keep 45 minutes between every single post. If you are scheduling, keep that 45 minutes of space when doing so. Fangrowth.io has a customization section where you are able to set this window.
      • This also applies to your manual posting. Do make it a habit to just peek at what you have scheduled before every single time you post.
  • Don’t try and use a scheduler to evade a subreddit ban. This will likely be caught by the filters right away, but it can absolutely slip through those cracks. If it does slip past the filter, moderators are able to see accounts that are likely ban evading and will catch it there.
  • Don’t continue posting in subs where your content is being removed. Check in on your profile regularly or your post history in your scheduler to see if anything is being taken down. Continuing to post and getting removed will likely trigger a shadow.
  • Don’t post the same content repeatedly. Reddit will recognize it and label you as spam. If Reddit doesn’t, many sub moderators do not allow repeated content and will remove it.
  • Do follow all of the rules listed in a subreddit.

Final Thoughts

I have been using a scheduler for all of my Reddit promotion since day one and will scream the benefits of Fangrowth.io until I am blue in the face. But, let’s get real. It does not come without risks. If you are going to use a scheduler on Reddit, I highly suggest following the steps outlined in this resource for long term success and ease of promotion!
