Subreddit Verification: The Mystery of Meaningful Engagement
Most selling subreddits, and many NSFW subreddits require verification and approval for posting and commenting. Verification can absolutely be a pain. We went in depth on the basics of that here, but we did not touch on one aspect I tend to see trip creators up very often: Meaningful engagement, or meaningful comment and posting.
meaningful engagement in general Is demonstrated by posting and commenting in ways that contribute to the subreddit you are posting in. Here are a few guidelines to go by.
Meaningful Engagement General Guidelines
Many subreddits will require a post and comment history for their chosen amount of time on your account that demonstrates you are having meaningful engagements and interactions on the platform.
- Most subreddits define the following comments as non-meaningful and what you could consider instead:
- Lol, wtf, cool, neat or any iteration.
- Genuinely engage in the community. Go tell that one girl her outfit or butt (respectfully!) looks great! Ask that burning question you have. Engage in the communities you want to try posting in to build a community and presence.
- Any comments containing links.
- Comments that are either promotional, related to services, or baiting.
- Avoid links, menus, or calls to action.
- Comments left on selling subreddits.
- Comments left under your own posts or on your own profile.
- You have to show engagement with more than your own sub community.
- Lol, wtf, cool, neat or any iteration.
- Most subreddits define the following posts as non-meaningful.
- Direct promotion (see more detail in section below).
- stay away from calls to action and baiting in captions.
- Consider posting in subreddits that do not have a platform name or directly relate to content creation.
- If Onlyfans or Fansly is in the name, that is direct promotion of content creation. Branch out to more niche subs. That match your interests. My favorite are heels, lingerie. Makeup and photography focused!
- Selling posts or ads
- Any selling posts will not be considered meaningful engagement.
- Posts on your own profile.
- The intent of this is to show meaningful engagement with the whole community of Reddit. To establish that you can have predictable posting and commenting behavior while following others rules, and show you are not simply here to promote and go.
- Direct promotion (see more detail in section below).
- Posts or comments most subreddits DO find meaningful
- Most subreddits DO find posts in NSFW subs to be meaningful and are often encouraged.
- SFW posts and comments that fit the subreddit and contribute to the conversation are also considered meaningful engagement.
- Posts or comments that fits the subreddit you posted or commented in, follow the subreddit rules, contributes to the conversation, and shows active effort to engage with the community.
- Promotional posts DO count towards this, so long as they are not in selling subreddits, contain selling or strict promotional language, and do not contain links in either caption, content, or comments.
